1960-61 Tom Voyce - Touch Judge Flags

On display at Kingsholm ‘Gloucester RFC’


These Touch Judge Flags were presented to 1960/61 RFU president Tom Voyce. As in tradition the presidents of their respective unions are presented with one of the touch judge flags from each of the international matches played during the year of their presidency. Normally the presentation would take place at the post match dinner.
Tom Voyce played for Gloucester 171 times (1919-1927) & represented England on 29 occasions (1920-26) winning 3 Grand Slams (1921, 1923, 1924), He also went on the 1924 British Lions tour & appeared in 2 of the 4 Tests.


These are the England matches that took place during the year of his presidency of 1960/61


7th January 1961 – England v South Africa (Twickenham) SA won 5-0
21st January 1961 – Wales v England (Cardiff Arms Park) Wales won 6-3
11 February 1961 – Ireland v England (Lansdowne Road) Ireland won 11-8
25th February 1961 – England v France (Twickenham) Drawn 5-5
18th March 1961 – England v Scotland (Twickenham) England won 6-0
