Rugby themed posters created by Italian artist Renato Berti (circa late 1920’s early 30’s)
‘Petrole Hahn’ is a brand of hair lotion

Born on 26th October 1884 in Padua (Italy) Renato Berti was a talented artist who studied in the Scuola Libera Del Nudo (Academy of Fine Arts) in Rome. He would later move to Paris where he was to live for more than 30 years and established his studio. He began working as an illustrator for La Vie Francaise and won excellent reviews in the leading Parisian and national newspapers of the time.

His early years in Paris were not easy, and adopted a French name ‘Rene Berti’ and as a illustrator signed his works ‘Ribet’

His works were displayed in many exhibitions, used as illustrations of posters, children’s books and many painted many canvases.
