Australia 1986 tour of New Zealand Jersey
Worn by Matthew Peter Burke
A 1986 Wallabies No 11 Jersey believed to be worn by Matthew Burke during the 1986 Bledisloe Cup 3 match series. Australia won the series against New Zealand winning two of the three Test matches, The first Test in Wellington 13-12 ‘a match which Matthew Burke scored the second of Australia’s tries’ & winning the third Test at Eden Park ‘Auckland’ 22-9 to give Australia a historic series win in NZ.
Matthew Burke played in 23 Tests for Australia scoring 15 tries between 1984-1987, before moving onto play Rugby League.
This jersey was acquired by a lady who was an assistant to the All Blacks for a number of years, before her husband deciding he would wear this to do the gardening in (hence the fading), before going through a few collectors hands.
