Then these two large figures appeared on a few Grogg facebook groups ‘which I would recommend any Grogg collector joining’ like most facebook groups you get good advice with many knowledgeable collectors’ The owner decided to put them on eBay and they caught the eye of many collectors ‘most like myself’ I suspect were curious how much they would fetch and they didn’t disappoint.
Richard’s work often gets mistaken as being made by his father, the founder of the Grogg shop ‘John Hughes’, but both of these figures were made by Richard Hughes, the 10 inch Phil Bennett was made to commemorate the 1976 Grand Slam & the more impressive figure a 14 inch tall JPR Williams figure which dated between 1976-78, this larger piece weighed 1.8kg and was made of solid clay.
I suspect the vendor will want them to both be collected in person by the winning bidders.
